About the Event
iDig2Learn is thrilled to host bat expert Nic Comparato from the Urban Bat Project NYC who will share their bat hunting skills and the specialized microphones they use to detect bat communication at NYC’s first Miyawaki Method pocket forest. Five species of bat call NYC home. Find out who resides on Roosevelt Island and more about their mosquito-eating superpowers.
Come meet neighbors and learn which night flyers call Southpoint Park home. Please wear comfortable shoes, bring your reusable water bottle, and use your insect protection - bats eat mosquitos so don’t you feed the bugs too. Feel free to bring a chair if you want. All ages and abilities welcome. Surfaces are paved or level grass. 8:30 PM to 10 PM. NOW 8/17/26 due to rain on original date. FREE.
